What Do Your Home Lamps Say About You?

Author: Liz Hekimian-Williams

Find out what your choices in home lamps can mean about you and what others might perceive about you simply from the lighting you use in your home. 1. If you choose Tiffany lamps, you may be more in tune with creativity, art, colors, and a fine elegant lifestyle. Tiffany lamps are beautiful works of art made by artisans with stained glass pieces they create into stylish patterned shades. Tiffany lamps enjoy a long history as coveted lighting that exudes fine style in home decor. 2. If you like touch lamps, you may be focused more on practicality. More interested in ease of use than fancy or expensive materials, you are likely to be a down to earth person who's got easy going needs when it comes to lighting. You like interesting "magical" things too, like touch lighting, though. So, you basically seem to like to have fun with a twist. What's the twist? Touch lamps also have a variety of shades, including floral patterns, animal images, celebrity images, so you can find what feels just right for you! 3. Bedside table lamps might tell a lot about you as well. Romantic types may be more likely to seek out table lamps with flowers, Victorian themes or styles, and low wattage to enhance those intimate moments. Practical types, though, will likely choose table lamps with enough wattage that's comfortable for reading or laptop computing in bed. Home nesters who want to surround themselves with the themes and the quirky favorite things they love (monkeys, palm trees, motorcyles, panda bears, mountains, boats, or whatever thrills you), will choose a novelty table lamp that includes or represents such a beloved theme. 4. Including chandelier lighting in your home used to exude more of an aire of opulence than perhaps it does today. However, especially when a larger, or more intricate, or more impressive one is selected, then these chandeliers still make their owners and their guests feel a thrill of wealth and elegance as they upscale their home surroundings. So what type of lamp and lighting ideas are you more drawn to? Perhaps it supports your view of yourself or you discovered another facet of wonderful you and how it's playing a role in your lamp choices. Whatever home lamps you choose, embrace your choice so long as you remember that impressing others should be way down on the totem pole in terms of importance. Think use of lamp and think of impressing yourself first. Then the rest will follow. Remember that even though the lamps you choose may make others guess certain things about you, that should be at best your third most important decision in selecting your lamp choices. First, choose lamps by the tasks and preferences the lighting is needed for. Next choose your lighting by the feelings of happiness and satisfaction the lamp invokes in you (love your lamp!). Finally, perhaps give some weight in your choice for the type of impressions you'd like your lamps to make on the guests to your home. Remember that even lower priced quirky lamps with funny or unusual themes can make great impressions on your guests because you'll have "stories" you can share with them about your hobbies or quirky collections and tastes! And, everyone enjoys a good story! About the author: Liz Hekimian-Williams still remembers getting her first chandelier. Saving money for it was a hurdle, but it sure was fun to get it. Since then she enjoys the lamp over her dining room table as it lights up the family's holiday dinners.
